Do not Store Shoes in a Box

For the simple reason that a box can have moisture which will result in the growth of fungus and mold. Thus it is always advisable to keep your leather shoes in the open or on shoe racks! It is also fine to store them in dust bags, but one must make sure, that the bag is absolutely dry!

Dry your Leather Shoes

If your shoes get moist and wet due to the rains or a liquid spill, kindly dry them naturally before storing them away. Never use a heater or dryer as the heat can crack the leather of the shoes!

Clean & Care

If your shoes get grubby and dirty with daily use, attend to them immediately. Else the muck seeps into the leather leaving behind nasty stains. Use a soft and damp muslin cloth to gently wipe the surface of the leather and let it dry naturally, away from the sunlight. Leave the shoes to age and allow them to breathe!

Use Shoe Trees

Shoe trees made of cedar wood, absorb all the moisture in the shoe and also help retain the shape.

Regular Use of Leather Conditioner

Natural balance of oils in animal hide tends to get lost over time! Leather also loses it’s moisture and flexibility because of exposure to sunlight. Use a shoe cream or conditioner at least once a week.

Use a good Shoe Polish

The idea is to use a good meltonian wax. Meltonian shoe cream creates a protective coating on the shoe, giving it the right shine without seeping into the leather and distorting the colour of the shoe!

Last but not the least, in case of excessive discolouration & cracking, it is best to consult a professional leather shoe dry cleaner. Most leather care experts, would first get rid of the old coat of colour and then apply a fresh new coat of dye/pigment with an air gun! A thin film of meltonian wax is applied on shoes, for the final sheen and finish!
